Julia Riddell
Julia is a practicing clinical psychologist and adjunct professor at the University of Manitoba. She advocates passionately to ensure that everyone has access to the mental health services they need. Julia’s work is focused on improving health care access and delivery for youth, Indigenous peoples, and individuals living with mental health needs.
Julia moved to Winnipeg in 2018 to complete her residency. Living in the Earl Grey area, she can’t imagine a better place to now call home. Growing up in a rural area near Milton, Ontario and living in Toronto while completing her PhD, Julia has been a dedicated volunteer and grassroots organizer wherever she’s lived. She has been an active member of numerous social initiatives, including the Hamilton Freeskool, the Skydragon Community Centre, the Hamilton Centre for Teaching Peace, and the Victorian Order of Nurses.
Julia saw first-hand the mental health struggles that everyday people faced through the pandemic, as people were cut off from their support networks. She worked tirelessly to help as many people as possible, but she knows that better mental health services are needed in Manitoba and Canada-wide.
Julia understands that Ottawa needs to work for you, not the ultra-rich. She’s ready to fight hard to ensure that everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home. She knows that we must tackle the climate crisis like we actually want to win by investing in public transit, home retrofits, clean technology and support for good, sustainable jobs.
Julia believes Ottawa can work better for our community. She recognizes that it's time to make sure everyone can access the health services they need with their health card – not their credit card, including prescription medication, dental care, and mental health services for all.
Julia is ready to stand up for you as your Member of Parliament in Winnipeg South Centre.
